Recieved this in my email. Many of you may have known Eddie -- a long time runner and great guy.
Dear CT Runners:
Jackie Lancaster (formerly Jackie Shettle) just called me to tell me that Eddie Gorecki was hit today by an SUV on Brickyard Road
in Farmington, near where he lived, and killed. She heard from Caroline Lloyd who helped the police establish Eddie's identity.
Many of us remember many wonderful stories about Eddie, a truly dedicated runner.

I can't believe it. I used to see Eddie every day at the NB Y. He was a fixture at most races.

There's been a huge outpouring from the running community on this. If you've ever done a road
race in CT, you know the guy. I guess I started running was right around the time Eddie's 'hammy' started acting up -- he was close to my pace
back when I started doing road races. Quite a character, and he was a really nice guy and remembered everyone's name. I'll miss him and remember him
with the time when running was new and exciting to me. Sounds like Eddie was able to keep that spirit with him always -- what a great
thing.
Kinda funny the last race report I did, which wasn't even a road race, has a funny story about Eddie in it. Here is the link to Lori's
running blog, for anyone interested.

This was ended very sad. I was very angry at the driver even though I know it was an accident. Hard to understand how she didn't see him.

As you know, on November 4, 2009, Eddie Gorecki died unexpectedly when he was hit by an SUV while running in Farmington.
We know that many of you have asked for information about making a contribution in Eddie's memory. As such, the Hartford Track Club has established the
Eddie Gorecki Memorial Fund, the proceeds of which will help directly defray the costs Eddie's family has encountered in dealing with his untimely death.
Tax deductible contributions can be sent to:
Hartford Track Club
PO Box 624
Farmington CT 06034
Please include Eddie's name in the memo line of the check. You can also give checks directly to Peter Hawley, Kathy
Schultz or Kelly Burns.

Make the check payable to "Hartford Track Club" and put Eddie's name in memo line.
