After a great race at Healthnet, I did the Fairfield Half Marathon on Sunday. I had never done back to back races like this, but my legs felt pretty decent Sunday morning. This was my first time doing the Fairfield half, but heard from Vin that the race is extremely well run and the course is a lot of fun. Got down there at about 6:45, with the race start at 8:30 AM, so I had plenty of time to use the porta-potties, get stretched out, and eat a bit more. I did see a good amount of Mossman and Shorline Shark jerseys around, but I was the only one in Heat gear! All told, there was over 3000 runners there, between the half marathon and 5K. The race started promptly at 8:30. Being at the shore, I automatically assumed the course wouldn't be too hilly. Bad assumption. The only flats were on miles 1-2 and 12-13, the rest being up and down, up and down. That being said, the race course was awesome! A lot of shade and a lot of great scenery along the shore and along some of the bays. There's nothing like smelling that ocean smell on a run. All said and done, I finished with a time of 1:31:13, 6:57 pace. 89/1996 overall. Also, the post race party on the beach was killer! One of the best I've seen! I would definitely reccommend this race.
