Vin told me there are 17 (!!!!) HEATsters doing IMLP in two weeks (OMG...can it really be only TWO weeks away??!). Any way, I imagine everyone doing the race
will but up there by Friday afternoon, and wanted to proposed a group get-together, photo type-thing. I thought about a dinner, but dinner might be tough
since we will all be doing our own nutrition thing (and I think the pasta feed is that night any way) but perhaps we could still get together for photo and to
swap some stories. I also imagine Friday would be a better day for something like this than Saturday as I am sure that some of us--okay, I--will be complete
basket case on Saturday. I am fairly certain I do not know most of the people on the list, so it would be great to meet everyone before we dive into the
chilly waters of Mirror Lake at 6:45 am on July 20.
I hope everyone's training is going well for all. |

Rob, I would recommend that you all try to meet at Mirror lake on Sat. morning for a little photo op and swim. It's a great way to ease the pre-race
jitters. Good luck to all!!! We're going to be keeping track online for as many as we can find.

That is Vin's count, not mine. But thanks for the good wishes Ken. My wife advises that while July 20 is my day, every day from July 21 on his hers in
payment for putting up with me the past year.

I'll be up there chearing on a few friends so if you hear a few random "Go Heat" from some one you don't know, it might be me. I am also
volunteering at bike handling from 7:30 - 9:30 so hopefully I will see a lot of you coming out of the swim.
Good luck everyone Mark |

Ken - did you officially cancel? I totally think you should do it. You'd do great.
IM fee - $545; gasoline - $100; crashing someplace Saturday night - $150 (?) Bragging rights to finishing the LPIM on almost zero training - PRICELESS!! I'll give you $100 if you do it. |

I wouldn't worry about Norman, Rafael can totally throw his bike farther than him any day.

Raf would have grabbed hold of the flat tire with his teeth and ripped that old one right off!!!! No such thing as too much glue for Raf!!!
Pam, don't forget that you're not alone in the NERVOUS bus. Just remember that you've done the training and now's the time to reap your reward. Good luck, and have fun.

Just think of it as another long training day with 2,000 friends and strangers handing out gu and water.
Just for the record, I had to pay full price for my bike, so I won't be throwing it anywhere no matter how p/o'ed I get. Besides, my longest rides on a road bike have been 2 60 milers with John P. and the 2 half IM's I've done. So I think I'll be to tired to do anything even if I wanted to. See ya up in LP. I'll have the tent. (860)463-2003 Rafael |

Pam--
Not sure why you are nervous about the swim. Go to YOUTUBE and watch any number of the videos of the start. Nothing to it. Just 2200 people thrashing in a space not quite large enough for 2150 people. I remember reading
something someone put up on this forum last year about how the best training for the swim may have been in a phone booth. In case you have not figured it
out...you are not alone. For some reason that defies logic, I feel like once I finish the swim, the hard part is over. I mean after the swim its just a nice
ride through the Adirondacks with lots of rest stops with nice people to feed you, and a cool down jog around some of the Olympic sites to keep my legs from
getting sore. I mean how hard can it really be...right? Right?
I say we all meet at the tennis courts by the swim start on Friday afternoon. Then we can decide who wants to get together for a quick swim on saturday. For anyone interested, I am planning a ver easy bike ride of one lap of the run course on Thr...about 3 pm. If interested, lets meet at the oval. See you all there! Ahhhhh....taper time.
