on the board for a year before finally joining Heat and admit to being intimidated by all the winning and Iron Man accounts. I have heard that HEAT is looking

Vin - this is great, thanks a lot. Hope to see you there. Believe it or not, the last GHT I did, at least solo, was in 1985 - 23 years ago!, before I got
sidelined with injuries and gave up. I promised myself then I would make a comeback when I turned 60. Well, 60 has long since come and gone, and the next round
number looming is 70. So before I have to check into an old age convalescent home, I decided to get more active this summer, and I have my sights on the
Westport minuteman tri on Sept...

It's on the other side of the lake from Brodie Park - the west end.

Hope to see you again. Yea -- we did the GHT...

Hi, I am also looking for people to train in open waters with and would love to come to one or more of the Friday swims at West Hill Lake. I did a couple of
the Greater hartford Tris there 20+ years ago, but haven't been back since. Those were at Brodie Park, which I'd be hard pressed to find again. From
what I can gather, it looks like the group meets on Fridays at 6:00 at the State Boat Launch. Is that right? Is it fairly straightforward to find the boat
launch? Any hints on...

Thanks for all the comments and for making me feel welcome. It is also reassuring to know the course was a bit on the long side. It will make my next swim
less intimidating.
Paul, I will definately say hi next time I see you at Cornerstone. And thanks for the list of open water swims. I would like to do another one this year.
I'm also hoping to be able to get out to the Friday night West Hill open water swim sometime this summer.

Peter, I enjoyed reading your account of your first open water swim. You are to be congratulated for participating in it, regardless of your time. It's not
so much the time that counts, it's more whether you enjoyed it or not. I also estimate the distance to be somewhere close to 1.5 mi. I swim regularly at
Cornerstone and may be the person you're referring to. I'm 62 (still 61 on race day at Madison), and about 5'9". This is the report I sent to
our Cornerstone group...

Peter, Great Race report!!! I also heard from Mike K. (our swim coach at TCC - fellow HEAT member) that the course was closer to 1.5 miles long. He came out in
something like 28 Min. where he would normally be around 20 for a mile. Keep up the great work and hopefully we'll see you at the races.
