			<description><![CDATA[ I decided to do two races in the week of Thanksgiving, starting with the USATF 8K cross country championship in the W Htfd reservoir on Saturday. When I got to
the reservoir the temperature was 20 degrees with a wind chill close to 0. The good news was that all of the mud spots were frozen. The bad news was that all
of the runners were too. The course is a hilly challenging mix of fire roads with a little paved and some single track. Since it is the final race in the Cross

			<description><![CDATA[ <p>Great weather today for the Manchester road race!!! I saw fellow HEATSTER Rob toeing the line in the same corral (under 35) as myself. Janice started
farther back in the over 40 min. bin. As best as I can tell (I know for myself and Janice) a good time was had by all. Haven&#39;t seen the official results
yet but I finished in something like 30:50 and I think young Rob was pretty close by. Janice finished in 52 minutes or so (took her close to 2 minutes to cross

For the first 10 minutes of the swim I was sandwiched comfortably between two swimmers. Midway to the first turn I got my first drubbing. I swam into the pack
ahead of me which allowed the pack behind me to come over the top. I stayed calm, got some clear water and settled in. As I neared the first turn buoy I got

			<description><![CDATA[ I think that I&#39;m finally recovered from my weekend antics.  I ran the Hartford 1/2 on Saturday, looking to enjoy the course and put up a respectable time
of around 1:40.  The day was beautiful, with temps around 60 for most of the race, but it did start to heat up by the end and I was feeling sorry for the full
marathon runners out there.  I ran most of the race at around 7:30-7:40 minute pace and was feeling good with some speed increases on the flat sections, but at

otherwise and the race was close and started at 8 AM. As I rolled up the garage to head for the race I was surprised at how wet the driveway was from the

sold out several days before the event at 500 entrants. It turned out to be a rainy morning, and the eventual winner, Rebecca Stephenson, a 36-year-old mother
of three young children, had qualms about whether to compete because of the slick conditions. Like the other female triathletes, she rode extra cautiously,
