HEAT is Victorious at NE Championship at Cranberry

HEAT won its first N.E. Club Championship at the popular and sold out Cranberry Olympic triathlon. A huge showing of HEAT members, new and old, assured victory in a highly competitive division. Race conditions were close to ideal, with clear skies and calm waters. Kudos to the race director for allowing the clubs to have their own areas in the transition. Duathlon National Championships - Richmond, VA 4/27

Anyone interested in a road trip for the Duathlon Nationals? I plan on trying this race which is also the qualifier for Worlds in Italy 9/28/08. The course is a 10K run, 40K bike and 5K run. It rolls a bit and the ride is about 170' top to bottom. Let me know if you are planning on going down and maybe we can go together. I will be driving down with my bike. It does force the early training a bit!

Hyannis Marathon

Well it turned out to be a pretty good day for Feb on the Cape. It was around 30 to 32 at the start and sunny wound up reaching 38 by 3PM. I was comfortable running in Underarmor cold gear, long sleeve tec-wick shirt, hat, and gloves. I used my new toy (Garmin 305) and set up the Virtual Trainer at my goal pace 6:40. Would anyone like to join me in the Urban Dare Boston race on Sat April 26? This race is basically a scavenger hunt around the city. You get clues to find checkpoints. According to the Northeast region website http://usatnortheast.com/ the Cranberry Country Olympic Tri on Sunday August 24 in Lakeville MA will be the Club championship race. That's great for me since this race was already on my schedule.

Greater Hartford 1/4 Marathon

The Greater Hartford 1/4 Marathon (which I'm race director of) will be taking place on April 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. at MDC Reservoir in West Hartford, and is now part of the USATF/CT Grand Prix. The 6.55 race invovles a scenic double loop course, long sleeve t-shirts, custom designed finishers medals, lots of good food and all proceeds benefit the Blazeman Foundation in the fight against ALS.

This is my first race report post and especially for "Cannondale Jim" who said he likes reading the race reports and wanted to know how I did on my 1/2 Ironman in CA this past August.

This was my 3rd half iron and first destination race. I chose this one because a friend was doing the full Vineman and this race was exactly half the course on the same day. Barb's race was for WOMEN only and geared towards those trying their first half. Race proceeds went to charity....

Genesis Adventure Race

Hey guys! Glad to be back home! What a race. I don't think I've ever heard of so much madness. Michellie Jones with a perforated ear drum, Badmann hits a cone at 10K on the bike and goes out, Al Sultan DNSs due to flu, Stadler barfs on the bike out near Hawi (I saw the barf on his bike after the race!), Ficker and Zeiger chalk up 4+ hr marathons, 22 pros DNF! Just madness...

Things went well for me, although they got painful on miles 17-23 on the run, but hey, that's what next...
