A really nice, low key race is held every year during the last weekend of July/first weekend of Aug called the Colchester Triathlon in Colechester, VT (10 mins north of Burlington, VT). This race is designed to be the way races in the 1980's used to be - really no frills and cheap ($35). The swim (1/2 mile) is in Lake Champlain. It was so warm this year that I got really warm in my wetsuit. <img src=http://www.ctheat.org/e/helpme.gif...

I ran my first Marathon this fall down in DC. This one came very highly recommended from some running friends and the event surpassed my expectations! Very well run, awesome crowds, even a landmark or two. Also the weather cooperated which was a nice bonus.

I took the family for an extended weekend to tour the capital area and abuse my body. If anyone is thinking about a late season Marathon, I'd defiantly recommend the Marine Corps Marathon. Hint: no qualifying times, but sign up...

Sunday started bright and early with a 6:00am bus ride to the docks for body marking and a boat ride to Buck Island... where we were dropped off for the race start! Genesis runs great races and they always start on time, exactly at 7:00 am the gun went off, even though there were at least 6 teams still in the parking lot, my team being one of them waiting for a teamate to return from the bathroom.
