Okay, some details. Everyone in HEAT unies looked awesome out there. Its still the sharpest uniform in the field, and everyone who wore it that I saw did it proud. Pugmire was sick on the bike...5:44 on that course? In a downpour? Are you kidding me?

I saw several "HEATsters" out on the course and before the race. I really enjoyed the "big time" feel of the race and the village of Lake Placid was amazingly scenic. Contrary to popular opinion, I will be working on my descents and flat riding as opposed to hills for the next time I do IMLP. Those were my personal weak points on the bike. I had a very good race for me timewise. As others have stated I think the swim was deinitely shorter than last year's.
I took over 6 min off of my swim from last year. That run up the hill from the lake to T-1 was painful to say the least. I tried to run more and faster than last year and ended up taking 1 min off of my T-1 time from last year. The beginning of the bike was "interesting" for me. Hockomock YMCA Try-athlon, Wrentham

Ironman R.I. 70.3

The wind was at the backs of a small but prominent group of HEATSTERS who came out for the inaugural Ironman R.I. 70.3. This race offered some challenges for the organizers. A point to point bike run of 56 miles. The Ironman crew pulled it off with success. The one glitch in the organization was a ridiculously long line for registration. Otherwise, the organization was top notch. The swim transition area was well run, and not too militant. The bike intersections were also well covered....

Lyons River Run - Altitude with attitude

I just got back from my altitude training in CO and had the chance to run a 5K in Lyons, CO where Tim DeBoom used to live. He has moved on to Boulder, but Nicole still made the race this year. I got off to a great first mile, well behind the greyhounds but still a respectable 6:31. Once I started the second mile, it felt like someone threw a sandbag on my back and by the third mile, I couldn't hold off the guy in my age class who I had cruised by earlier. Providence 70.3 Reports/Posts

I've talked to a number of Heatster participating this weekend. Has anyone been over to preview the bike course?
I'm heading over Friday evening and will be staying at the Westin with the Family. Planning on talking the shuttle bus from the hotel Sunday AM to the start and am praying that have a good race (for me anyway). Weather forecast is clear of storms, but a bit on the warm site in the mid 80's right now.

Cohasset Sprint tri, great race

If anyone has the chance to do this race next year, do it. It might just be a sprint, but it felt like woodstock with all the action. There was a great lineup of pro/elites with jarrod shoemaker, dede greisbauer, karen smyers and a ton of others. Crowds were throughout the entire course and made it very exciting.

This race was my first jump into an elite wave and it was definitely interesting! I knew my age group wave was going last, and with a field of over 800 I knew the course...

I am just starting to taper for the Road Island 70.3. With the long weekend approaching, I was itching to find a small simple tri that would not eat up an entire day. I was looking for a low key event similar the tri in Tolland two weeks ago, at some small town watering hole. I saw the Whately Police Sprint Tri on tri find scheduled for July 6. It looked perfect for what I was looking for.

WT DU 7/01

Last night's WT sprint ended up being a DU due to the weather. We started out with about a 1/3 mi paved run, and then on to the usual routes
either mtb or road, and then the 5k trail run. Last night's conditions definitely favored strong mtbers with the wet conditions.
I ended up with a 2nd overall again, but was beat by a 16 yo by three minutes

Vin told me there are 17 (!!!!) HEATsters doing IMLP in two weeks (OMG...can it really be only TWO weeks away??!). Any way, I imagine everyone doing the race will but up there by Friday afternoon, and wanted to proposed a group get-together, photo type-thing. I thought about a dinner, but dinner might be tough since we will all be doing our own nutrition thing (and I think the pasta feed is that night any way) but perhaps we could still get together for photo and to swap some stories. Patriot Half IM Reports

Anyone else doing the Patriot Triathlon in Freetown, MA this weekend ( July 5)? Alright last year it was called the Patriot half but because the bike is 58 miles they technically can't call it a half anymore. I'll be at the expo on the 4th and I'm hoping that I bump into some other HEATsters up there.
