Hey Guys
I'm going to be riding from the rail trail across from Quassy in Middlebury up to Lake Waramaug and back, the route is usually about 60 miles can go longer if there are any brave souls. Itend to ride a portion of the Griskus Tri Route as it is a little more forgiving that descending down Ben Sherman Hill. I also use Knettlehollow road instead of 47 for a stretch for the same reason. Anyone interested in riding with me let me know.

Hey, you guys were so slow that I got tired of waiting for you at DJT...oops, I forgot, you rode 100 miles while I just did 25!
Actually it was fun. Heat member Anita is awesome on hills. The rail trail can be dangerous though, when you crank it up and some out of control roller blader stagger towards a head-on collision. I saw some Heatsters on RT44 as I drove home, including Pres. Dean Bolt.
I'll bet that none of you guys who rode 100 miles went home and drove in fence...

Thursday - West Granby Ride -- 6PM - July 10th

A group of us are planning on doing the "Reservoir Route" on Thursday. Leaving at 6PM from the West Granby Post Office (next to the Fire Station) on Route 20. Some are leaving earlier (5:30) from the Granby Bike shop off of Rt 10.

The route is almost 30 miles, with the first half mostly climbing and then down Rt 20. No one gets dropped and they wait at the top of the hills.

We may end up doing a flatter ride (paceline) depending on who shows.

For those interested in joining up with a good group of cyclists, a lot of us "triathletes" have been riding with the "Valley Boys" for the last few years.

We now leave from the new Granby Bike Shop (next to Stop & Shop) in Granby (off of Rt 10). The group has grown to over 25 riders of mixed ability...

OK, so by monday most of you hammerheads will already have your long ride out of the way...but if, like me, family keeps in a car instead of a saddle Saturday and Sunday, and your schedule calls for a long, long ride, I am doing--okay, trying to do- a 100 mile ride on Monday (Memorial Day). Who was that lone rider i saw in Ellington/Somers on Rte. 83 Sat. morning around 7:30 wearing the HEAT colors? I was on my way over to Granby to ride with Vin, Patsy, Karen, Rob and others when i saw the HEAT jacket on someone riding strong headed north on rte. 83. Looking good!!!

I live in Devonwood right next to Winding trails.

Sharon McHale is doing a long ride 70-5 miles on Thursday AM starting at 8:15 from the bike path lot in Unionville on Rt 4.

Just wanted to let you all know that the Fat Tire Classic Mtn bike race at Winding Trails is this Sunday the 27th! And, if David Dyson holds true to his word to help me get the arrows up by the first week in May all of the triathlon courses will be up and ready to "practice" on. Start at the Tri shed - blue is for bike (5m) & red is for run (5k). Enjoy!
