It's that time of year again to start thinking about winter training! To help HEAT things up we have Spinning classes Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Winding Trails (Farmington, CT). Hey, HEATsters. SportSense is going to come and test their latest product on us this Sunday, December 13th at the Plainville Y. It measures all kinds of output, such as pressure your hand is exerting on the water, stroke rate, heart rate, splits, and other useful measures. The founder of the company is coming with a team to strap this product to our wrist for a few short measured swims as well as to videotape us. Greetings from Germany! I thought i say quick hello and let you know that i had a succesfull 2009 and planing on going to Hawaii next year again.
Depending if I can make the slot in the German Ironman!

Santa's Run

Another Santa's Run is in the books. I have done it every year except 95 (changed due to snow) since 92 and it is always a great way to cap the year's racing. 1300 plus people, a Santa for the starter, a Christmas tree ornament for all finishers and a downhill start; what's not to like. I finished at 24:18 to keep it under 7:00 per mile but took time to talk to other runners this time. Not a lot of responses, I noticed. Don't you just hate it when some numbskull is trying to...

Hi, fellow HEATsters. Come and join us for our weekly group runs - coached speedwork (or just come and run your own workout while enjoying the company) on the Avon High School track at 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday. Not everyone arrives at 6, some arrive as late as 6:45, and people leave between 7 and 7:30. The track is lit!

It was a nice relaxed event with about 50 people running along a hard packed dirt trail that ran next to the river in Steep Rock Preserve, and the course was a simple 2.5K out to the turnaround and back so you could see how close you were to the people in front of you and behind you at the halfway point.
